I had accidentally chosen a restaurant in the slums to have dinner with friends.

There was not a moment of peace undisturbed from what could've just been artillery on the city. Already my right ear was in pain after being blessed by an explosive some 20ft away.

In the corner of my eye I caught a glimpse of sparks, flying in an arc to rest in the middle of the street.

This time, thankfully, I did plug my ears, and promptly took cover inside of a restaurant.

A big day!

I went to Marina Green to see the Golden Gate Bridge fireworks.

Unfortunately, the low clouds obscured a lot of the show.

To be honest though, even if I had seen the whole thing, it seemed pretty underwhelming. I was expecting something grander for the semiquincentennial celebration of the United States' founding.

LIGHTWEIGHT

It's been three weeks of me eating cleaner and exercising.

I'm certainly seeing material improvements in both cardiorespiratory endurance and strength, which has been a great help in general life.

I really need to keep working harder and improving.
